Wendy Williams – Judge Denies Ex-Husband Kevin Hunter’s Demand For Alimony Payments To Continue
Wendy Williams – Judge Denies Ex-Husband Kevin Hunter’s Demand For Alimony Payments To Continue
It looks like Wendy Williams will no longer have to pay her ex-husband alimony.
According to reports, a New Jersey judge found that Kevin Hunter‘s request for his alimony payments to be reinstated was “not emergent” and ordered his “application to be dismissed without prejudice.” The judge also denied Kevin’s request for his attorney fees to be paid by Wendy Williams.
However, according to court documents, Kevin’s fight for alimony payments to resume isn’t completely over just yet. While the judge didn’t consider Kevin’s demand for alimony an emergency, he can still take his case to mediation.
The judge said,
“The parties are to participate in binding arbitration…The issues surrounding the severance payments, and the QDRO [Qualified Domestic Relations Order] are disputed and therefore need to be mediated.”
As previously reported, Kevin Hunter claimed in November 2022 that his monthly alimony payments had stopped in February 2022. He requested the court order Wendy’s financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey,
“to make payments as contractually required under the MSA and Severance Agreement.”
As we reported last year, Wendy Williams was placed in a financial guardianship after Wells Fargo froze her bank account assuming the former talk show host battles,
“financial exploitation, dementia or undue influence.”
The court-appointed guardian seemingly means Wendy’s battle with Wells Fargo to unfreeze her bank accounts is over. The financial guardian, along with Wendy and the courts, will now be in charge of determining how she will access her funds.
In his filing, Kevin Hunter told the court that he is very dependent on the payments, which were agreed to in their marital settlement agreement, to live. Hunter stated:
“I have fallen behind on most of my bills. I currently live in a community that requires payments to the homeowners association and I’m behind on that bill.
He continued,
“If the homeowners association fees are not paid foreclosure will soon follow. My car insurance hasn’t been paid as a result of not receiving monthly severance payments. I’m behind on credit card payments because I have no money since the severance payments were suspended.”
Kevin added,
“My life has been greatly affected since the plaintiff stopped making payments under our settlement agreement. The fact that I am unable to sustain my life and pay my bills in order is extremely emergent to me. I cannot pay my bills and sustain my day-to-day living.”
In response to Kevin’s demand for payment, the former TV host’s attorney filed that the star has not had income from “The Wendy Williams Show” since October of 2021.
According to Wendy’s lawyer, Kevin “understood and agreed” that “all Severance Payment shall be subject to either termination or modification” if Wendy’s contract was “not renewed and/or otherwise suspended, canceled or terminated.”
