B. Simone Speaks Out Amid News That Her Ex, Former NFL Player Chris Smith, Has Passed Away: ‘Love On People When They Are Physically Here’
Comedian B. Simone has spoken out amid news that her ex-boyfriend, former Cleveland Browns player Chris Smith, has passed away.
According to reports, Chris Smith, a former NFL defensive end who was playing in the XFL (a professional football minor league) this season, has died. The Cleveland Browns and Chris Smith’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the news via Twitter today (April 18). He was only 31.
The Browns said in their statement,
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Browns DE Chris Smith.
Chris was one of the kindest people, teammates and friends we’ve had in our organization. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
Amid the devastating news, “Wild ‘n Out” star B. Simone, 33, took to Instagram and shared an emotional message via her IG stories. She wrote,
“Life is precious”
The actress added,
“One of the ONLY things in life that is promised, is death. Love on people when they are physically here, and if you truly love them cover them in prayer. God is a God of no mistakes even when you are grieving or hurt. Trust him. He won’t fail you …”
For those who may be unaware, Chris Smith’s last confirmed relationship was reportedly two years ago with B. Simone. According to reports, the social media influencer dated the football star for a few months before their relationship ended in 2021.
Reports state that Smith was a fifth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after playing in college with the Arkansas Razorbacks. The North Carolina native spent 8 years in the NFL. In addition to the Browns, he played for the Jaguars, Bengals, Panthers, Raiders, Ravens, and Texans. Smith reportedly had 80 total tackles, 11 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles.
Reports also claim Smith was starting a new career in the XFL and just signed with the Seattle Sea Dragons on March 9.
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
