Young Thug’s Legal Team Files Motion On Behalf Of All Co-Defendants Arguing For Certain Charges To Be Dropped Because They’re ‘Outside’ The Statute Of Limitations
Rapper Young Thug’s legal team is continuing to fight for his freedom!
As previously reported, last May the “Day Before” rhymer was arrested — alongside 27 others reportedly associated with YSL — on gang-related charges. Since then, a few of the individuals accused of being a part of the reported criminal street gang have been released due to their negotiated plea deals.
Unfortunately for Young Thug, his lawyers’ attempts to get him released have yet to be successful. However, the rapper’s attorneys have reportedly filed another motion, this time on behalf of all co-defendants involved in the case.

According to reports, the motion argues that the accusations that occurred more than 5 years before the arrest date are outside of the statute of limitations for a RICO charge and need to be removed from the indictment.
If granted, the motion would greatly weaken the state’s case against Thug and his co-defendants because some of the more serious allegations would be off the table. However, if denied, reports claim it may make the appeal process (if needed) harder for Thug and others wrapped up in the legal battle.

It’s unclear how the judge will rule, however, Atlanta crime and politics journalist George Chidi spoke on the motion and said,
“Here’s the thing: a murder charge – the underlying count – has no time limit by statute, and the law in that case is explicit. This would be the mother of technicalities.”
