Billy Porter Says He’s ‘Over’ Wearing Rainbow Pride Flag: ‘Can I Just Wear Something Cute?’
Billy Porter is ready to switch up his look during Pride season.
On Sunday (June 25) Billy Porter served at the 2023 NYC Pride Parade as one of its Grand Marshals. However, the actor/singer reportedly said he’s getting tired of wearing the rainbow flag colors.

As you may know, the rainbow flag, also known as the pride flag, is a symbol of LGBT pride and social movements. The multiple colors represent the diversity of the LGBT community.
Billy Porter said,
“I’m trying to find a rainbow without being the rainbow. I’m sort of over the rainbow but I like the rainbow. It’s a love-hate relationship with the rainbow, with the colors.”

He added,
“Because we have [had] to wear it for so many years. It’s like, ‘D*mn, can we wear something else now? Do I have to wear the colors? Can I just show up in something cute?’”
It appears Porter, 53, decided to take a calmer approach in what he wore to this year’s annual event. The activist styled the rainbow colors as a sash as he led the Pride parade through Manhattan.

In 2019, the “Pose” star reportedly wore a custom high-necked Christian Siriano gown made from a rainbow of fabric.
