Leslie Jones Says Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock At The 2022 Oscar’s “Really Affected Him” & That He Had To Attend Counseling w/His Daughters Afterwards: ‘That Sh*t Was Humiliating’

Comedian Leslie Jones is the latest celeb to share her two cents on the viral Chris Rock, Will Smith fiasco.

During a recent interview, the actress alleged that the moment took a greater toll on her friend than people realize, and shamed Smith for not immediately rectifying the situation.

According to the report, Leslie Jones shared her own frustrations about the viral moment while promoting her upcoming memoir “Leslie F*cking Jones”. In the book, which will reportedly be released September 19th, the 56-year-old gushed about her longstanding relationship with fellow comedian Chris Rock, and how he’s supported her throughout her career. Speaking about seeing someone she considers a “brother” get assaulted on live TV, Jones reportedly stated:

“It made me so infuriated…You don’t know that I was going to jump in my car and roll up there. I was so f—ing mad on so many levels.”

Additionally, the TV star says that the moment left more trauma for her dear friend than many people know. According to her, Rock was truly impacted by the situation and had to seek professional help for him and his daughters – Lola, 21, and Zahra, 19. She continued:

“That s–t was humiliating. It really affected him…People need to understand his daughters, his parents, saw that. He had to go to counseling with his daughters.”

The former SNL comic credits Rock for helping her land a spot on the iconic skit series, stating he pushed her to audition at a time she didn’t care to. For Jones, it seems the incident between Rock and Smith was especially appalling, because she felt as though not only was the “King Richard” star wrong, but also failed to remedy the situation directly after despite having the opportunity to. In case you’re unfamiliar, Smith climbed the stage while Rock was hosting the 2022 Oscars and dished out a hearty slap across the face due to a joke the comedian made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s balding, which is due to alopecia.

Smith warned Rock not to speak on his wife again before getting back on stage later in the night to tearfully accept his first ever Oscar win for Best Actor. Jones says Smith should have never reappeared on stage without apologizing for his actions, stating:

“He could have still fixed it,”

Adding that he should’ve said:

“‘I shouldn’t have did that. Bring Chris out. I can not accept the Oscar right now because that was f—ing wrong.'”

Smith did later issue several apologies to Rock via social media messages and video. However, it’s been repeatedly reported that the comedian is not yet ready to move forward in peace from the incident. Subsequently, Smith was also handed down a 10 year suspension from the Academy and had several of his movie projects temporarily halted. Many of them, if not all however, have resumed production.
