Drake & 21 Savage’s ‘Her Loss’ Album Submitted For 2024 Grammy Consideration, Seemingly Ending Rapper’s Ongoing Boycott Of The Award Show

Looks like Drake may be ready to set aside his longstanding beef with the Grammy’s.

According the reports, the musician’s recent project “Her Loss” with 21 Savage was submitted in several categories for consideration to the 2024 awards show, suggesting he may have made amends with the Recording Academy.

Reportedly, the album in its entirety was submitted to be considered for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album. Additionally, several singles from the project, including “Rich Flex” and “Spin Bout U”, have been submitted for categories like Song of the Year and Record of the Year among others. It’s noted in the report, however, that it’s unclear whether or not Drake, 21 Savage, or their teams entered the submissions on the artist’s behalf. Anyone who worked on the album, including song writers and producers could have entered the submissions, and the rapper’s team reportedly have declined to comment on the matter at this time.

Drake, real name Aubrey Graham, has withheld many of his projects from the awards show in recent years since publicly undermining their influence back in 2019. If you recall, the Canada native was critical about the selection process while accepting his award that year for “Gods Plan”. Addressing his own previous snubs as well as fellow rapper Travis Scott’s continued loses at the show, he stated:

“This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people who might not understand what a mixed-race kid from Canada has to say or a fly Spanish girl from New York or anybody else, or a brother from Houston right there, my brother Travis [Scott],

Adding before the network cut his speech short:

“But my point is you’ve already won if you have people singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown.”

In 2020, the decorated musician also expressed his frustrations after fellow artist The Weekend’s project “After Hours” was over looked for Album of the year. He added to his critique of the show:

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after,”

The Weekend

By 2022, it seemed that the rapper was completely threw with cooperating with the ceremony. Drake made headlines after withdrawing two of his submissions from the show, cementing rumors he was boycotting the Grammy’s. Though, by default, the musician did secure one more award during his hiatus by way of feature, appearing on Future’s “Wait For U” which Drake is featured on along with singer Tems.

However, seeing as though Drake opted not to submit anything from his most recent solo project “For All The Dogs”, there still stands a good chance he was not apart of the admission decision. It doesn’t seem like he’s spoken publicly about the situation at this time.
