‘New Girl’ Actor Lamorne Morris Apologizes For Mistakenly Backing Amy Schumer Amid Her Reported Islamophobic Rants On Social Media: ‘I’m Not A Genocide Supporter’
TV actor Lamorne Morris is setting the record straight about a recent comment he made online.
The entertainer claimed he was unaware of the controversy surrounding his fellow actor Amy Schumer when he shared a message of support for her, and has since apologized and deleted his post.
In a video explaining his actions, Lamorne Morris, 40, stated:
“I’m addressing a comment that I had made on Amy Schumer’s page where she was talking about her place in comedy, how she’s the number one female comedian of all time and I said ‘of all time, talk yo sh*t’….I’ve been getting some concern,”
He continued:
“A friend called me and said ‘have you not done your research on the type of things that were being posted’ and I said ‘No, I just – this came on my feed and I commented on that’…I did my googles, and I deleted the comment cause, uh no.”
she’s making peers in entertainment be like “hey sorry for interacting with amy, i didn’t know SHE LOVES GENOCIDE” i’m crying https://t.co/utWiToBaZ7 pic.twitter.com/QOJdhu5RqJ

Adding:
“I’m not a genocide supporter, I’m Black…I am in support of the freedom and liberty of all people…I am not in support of all the other comments…I do apologize if I offended anybody, clearly not my intention.”
Morris‘ walk back of his comment on Amy Schumer’s post comes just a day after the comedian drew massive backlash for her radical stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict. As previously reported, the movie actress trended online yesterday (November 1st) as social media users slammed her for speaking out against a cease-fire on the Gaza strip, which could potentially save thousands of lives, and making other remarks that many felt were “Islamophobic.”
In the post that Morris blissfully responded to, Schumer claimed that she wants “peace for everyone,” and snapped back at criticizers who attempted to shame her by negatively speaking about her looks and career. She wrote:
“I have never been given any money to support a cause other than tampons. I’ve never stolen a joke. People calling me a failed comic. I’m the most successful female comedian of all time. I’m ugly/fat okay Sorry you aren’t attracted to me. I found someone who is. I hope you fine someone too.”
Despite attempting to clarify her intention to advocate peace for all, Schumer has continued to face backlash. At this time it doesn’t appear that she’s made any further comments nor has removed any of her controversial posts.
