Quinta Brunson’s “Abbott Elementary” Renewed For Season 4
This class is NOT dismissed. Quinta Brunson ABC comedy, Abbott Elementary will be back for season four according to the network. This news comes just as season three began last week.
Actor William Stanford Davis, known for his role as Mr. Johnson, revealed the renewal during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
Abbott Elementary is one of the first new season renewals announced by the network whose sitcom has earned them over 2.5 million viewers.

The Philadelphia mockumentary show was conceived by Quinta Brunson, a former BuzzFeed creator who originally saw Abbott Elementary as an animated series when she met co-showrunners Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker.
The idea was birthed from Quinta Brunson’s mother who as a longtime public school teacher in Philadelphia, became Quinta’s inspiration for the series. Quinta’s co-creators insisted that Abbott Elementary not only be a live action series but that Quinta also play a role in the show and from there, history was made.
The dream team cast includes Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti and William Stanford Davis (bka Mr. Johnson).
William Stanford Davis was likely the most excited about the season’s renewal. Not only is Abott Elementary one of few network television series featuring characters of color that is not getting canceled this year, but Davis’ story is perhaps the most redeeming of all its cast.

Before the 72 year old graced the Emmy’s for the hit series, he spent nearly 40 years auditioning for shows in Hollywood, landing mostly small roles. He told Time that after feeling hopeful about his audition for the series Friends his agent informed him that
“the casting department thought my audition was so terrible, I should go back to being a telemarketer.”
Abbott Elementary has earned Quinta Brunson 2 Emmys and multiple nominations and has been celebrated throughout Hollywood. Despite an ongoing copyright infringement lawsuit claim since 2022, Quinta and her cast have not stopped production.
Friends like Yvonne Orji from Insecure and talk show host Jennifer Hudson offered their congratulations to Quinta on instagram.
