Normani Shows Love To Fans After Announcing Her Long-Awaited Debut Solo Album: ‘Thank You For Everything’
Normani is grateful for her fans.
The singer and dancer recently announced she’s releasing her long-awaited debut solo album, Dopamine, this year. Because of all the support she received following the announcement, Normani posted on X and Instagram Sunday, Feb. 25,
“I just wanted to say that I’ve been so overwhelmed by the love and support you’ve been showing me these past few days. I can’t believe it’s finally happening and I get to share what I’ve put my literal all into. So much is coming. I love you guys so much, thank you for everything.”
This post comes just days after Normani posted her album artwork on Instagram on Thursday, Feb. 21. It showed her wearing a black-leather bikini on top of a black rocket. For her caption, she wrote,
“cryingg typing this rn. DOPAMINE THE ALBUM.”
Normani followed the news of Dopamine with a snippet of a new song, which is presumably on the new album.
In addition to excitement from fans, the upcoming project got support from the artist’s former Fifth Harmony members: Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane.
Fifth Harmony was created in 2012 after Normani, Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane competed on ‘The X-Factor.’ The group then went on an indefinite hiatus in March 2018, allowing them to pursue solo projects.
Since then, Normani has released only seven singles as a lead artist, with 2019’s “Motivation” and 2022’s “Fair.” She also released other singles in collaboration with Khalid, Sam Smith, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, and other artists.
During a Feb. 22 interview with Who What Wear, Normani opened up about how her parents’ cancer diagnoses impacted her music career and the release of her first solo album. Once she learned they both had cancer, Normani said she immediately thought to herself,
“F*ck all of this. This is bigger than the music. It’s bigger than what I’m trying to accomplish. This is life or death. All I wanted to do was be there for them.”
In June 2023, Normani revealed her father, Derrick Hamilton, had been diagnosed with cancer. The news came one year after her mother, Andrea Hamilton, battled it for a second time.
Also, in the interview with Who What Wear, Normani said her music has helped her parents greatly.
“Honestly, music got them through the cancer treatments. I remember being on Facetime with my mom while she was undergoing chemo and her asking me, ‘How’s the studio today? How’s the music coming?’
Normani also opened up about how she felt seeing her parents go through cancer treatments.
“It was in those moments with my parents that made me realize I have an opportunity to make an impact in this lifetime. I know everything I’ve been through isn’t in vain. There’s always something that God wants me to see in the season. It’s all in service of making me better for all that he actually has in store for me.”
