Meghan Markle ‘Pleased With The Court’s Ruling’ To Dismiss Defamation Lawsuit Brought By Half-Sister Samantha Markle
Meghan Markle can finally leave the legal drama between her and her half-sister in the past!
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, emerged victorious in a defamation lawsuit initiated by her half-sister Samantha Markle. In the latest ruling published by US District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell on Tuesday (March 12), it was announced that the case was dismissed with prejudice due to Samantha Markle’s failure to present any words spoken by the “Suits” star that could substantiate a defamation claim.

The judge reportedly stated,
“The Court grants the motion to dismiss, in full. [Samantha Markle’s] claims will be dismissed with prejudice, as she has failed to identify any statements that could support a claim for defamation or defamation-by-implication by this point, her third try at amending her complaint, in either the book ‘Finding Freedom’, the Netflix series ‘Harry & Meghan’, or [Meghan Markle] and her husband’s hour-long televised CBS Interview. As such, the Third Amended Complaint will be dismissed, with prejudice.”
As previously reported, Samantha Markle accused Meghan Markle of making false claims about the dynamics of their estranged relationship during her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
According to Samantha, Prince Harry’s wife defamed her when she claimed they lacked a substantial relationship and said she was brought up as “an only child.”

Following the judge’s decision, Meghan’s lawyer, Michael J. Kump stated,
“We are pleased with the Court’s ruling dismissing the case.”
It’s important to note that this was Samantha’s third attempt to revise the complaint against Meghan, to receive $75,000 in damages.

Previously, the court dismissed her case in 2022 and 2023, following the judge’s ruling that:
“[A] reasonable listener would understand it, [Meghan] merely expresses an opinion about her childhood and her relationship with her half-siblings.”
Samantha’s legal representatives have not yet provided any comments regarding the court’s decision. It remains uncertain whether she will pursue an appeal at this time.
