Muni Long Explains Her Decision To Stop Writing For Non-Melanted Artists At Atlantic Records + Cites Ke$ha’s Vocals In ‘Timber’ Song
Muni Long recently sparked conversation after a TikTok went viral in which she revealed that she refuses to write songs for non-melanated artists at Atlantic Records.

The singer-songwriter has since provided more context to her decision, explaining that it stems from multiple incidents with this specific record label.

One notable experience involved the hit song ‘Timber,’ performed by Pitbull and Kesha. Muni shared that she was asked to return and redo the vocals after an artist struggled to sing the track the way she originally recorded it. While she didn’t name Kesha directly, many assume this is who she was referring to.
This is just one of three incidents Muni Long mentioned that led her to prioritize working with artists of color who have vocal range. She’s planning on sharing the two other accounts in separate videos.
