Cardi B Responds To Tragic Roof Collapse In The Dominican Republic That Claimed The Lives Of At Least 98 People: ‘I’m In Literal Tears’
Cardi B became emotional as she sent love to those impacted by the fatal roof collapse in the Dominican Republic.
The “Up” rapper, who is Dominican and Trinidadian, shared a statement to her BG Secret Society fans on social media and wrote:
“I’m in literal tears scrolling down my timeline seeing my Dominican people being rescued some wit lives and some gone.”
She continued:
“l’m sad seeing families crying desperately in pain looking for love ones ..I feel like every Dominican around the world is in a big hora Santa praying for survivors and praying for the ones that are gone to be in Gods Glory. For the people who lost a family or a friend don’t have bad memories they left this earth singing and dancing and most likely happy and enjoying themselves and that’s how the lord will receive them.”
She also mourned the passing of Merengue singer Rubby Pèrez, who was performing at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo on the evening the roof caved in.
His manager, Enrique Paulino, confirmed his passing hours after he was considered missing, according to Page Six. His family later said he was pulled alive from the incident after authorities “found him singing.” He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Cardi B wrote in her message:
“Its so heartbreaking to see one of our iconic artist [Rubby] Perez leave in such a tragic way.Im glad tho our final memory of him was him sharing his beautiful voice to us ..Sang one last time .I want my fans to pray for those who was in that building last night ???”
She also shared a photo of a ribbon over a map of the DR on her Instagram Story.
