Deion Sanders’ Son Shedeur Sanders Cashes In + Officially Signs $4.6 Million Deal w/ Cleveland Browns
Shedeur Sanders has officially joined the NFL ranks, signing a four-year, $4.6 million rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns on Monday. As the 144th overall pick in the fifth round, Shedeur Sanders’ contract terms were predetermined under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, which standardizes rookie pay based on draft position. Per Spotrac, his deal includes a $446,553 signing bonus.
Once projected as a first-round pick out of Colorado, Shedeur Sanders’ fall to the fifth round surprised many, especially given his NIL valuation exceeded his total rookie deal, according to On3. Despite not being the first quarterback selected by Cleveland—that title goes to third-round pick Dillon Gabriel—Sanders may still compete for a meaningful role.
He joins a crowded Browns quarterback room featuring Gabriel, Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett. With Deshaun Watson sidelined by a second Achilles rupture, Sanders enters training camp with a real chance to vie for playing time.
