Bhad Bhabie Pushes Back On Cultural Appropriation Accusations: ‘I Grew Up Around Black People’
Bhad Bhabie says she’s not trying to be something she’s not.
During a recent interview with influencer Camilla Araujo, the rapper addressed claims that she’s guilty of cultural appropriation, insisting she’s simply a product of her environment:
“I never purposely put makeup on to be darker, I never told a makeup artist to do it, I never did anything to my body to look like a race. I just… I grew up around Black people.”

She continued, saying she just has an “accent” and “gravitates toward certain things Black people do,” but ultimately, she’s “comfortable being an Italian, Jewish white girl.”
The 21-year-old, born Danielle Bregoli, rose to fame after her 2016 appearance on Dr. Phil, where she went viral for her “Catch me outside” moment. Since then, critics have accused her of mimicking Black culture through her style, voice, and behavior.
