Taraji P. Henson Blasts ‘Disrespectful’ Oprah Feud Rumors, Says Narrative Was Meant To Sabotage ‘The Color Purple’ Success
Taraji P. Henson is setting the record straight on rumors of a feud with Oprah Winfrey—and slamming the narrative as a targeted campaign to derail “The Color Purple.”
“I think it was just a campaign so that this Black movie wouldn’t do well,” Henson said on “The Breakfast Club,” calling the feud reports “BS.”
Henson denied ever taking aim at Oprah during the film’s press tour, despite her outspoken remarks on pay disparity. “Me and Oprah, I just have a love and a fondness for her,” she said. “She just texted me the other day, commending me on a job well done in “Straw.”
The Oscar nominee also addressed being unfairly blamed for the film’s box office dip. “You know that’s BS right?” she said. Henson emphasized unity among Black women, adding, “We are more powerful when we support each other.” She called the feud rumors “disrespectful” and “fictitious.”
