Mahershala Ali Says He’s ‘Ready’ To Start Filming ‘Blade’ Despite Years Of Delays: ‘Call Marvel’
Looks like Mahershala Ali is still on board to star in the Blade reboot, despite years of delays.
The Oscar winner briefly addressed the movie when asked about its progress during the New York premiere of his new film Jurassic World Rebirth, stating:
“Call Marvel. I’m ready. Let ’em know I’m ready.”
A reboot of the classic vampire-slayer film, originally starring Wesley Snipes, was announced by Marvel back in 2019, with Ali confirmed as the next star to step into the iconic role. Since then, the project has gone through major shake-ups, including the loss of multiple directors and cast members, leaving it in a years-long standstill.

While Marvel producer Kevin Feige has maintained that the studio is still “committed” to the film, Disney reportedly removed Blade from its release calendar last October, scrapping the previously scheduled November 7, 2025, release date. That change followed several earlier delays; the original release date was November 3, 2023.
Are you still holding out hope for a Blade movie?
