Basketball Legend Dawn Staley Says She Would Have Taken The New York Knicks Head Coaching Job [VIDEO]
Dawn Staley is making it clear that if the New York Knicks had offered her their head coaching job, she wouldn’t have turned it down.
Appearing on the Post Moves podcast with Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston, the WNBA legend admitted, “If the Knicks would have offered me the job, I would have had to do it. […] I wouldn’t take any NBA job, but it was the freaking New York Knicks.”

Staley also revealed that she challenged the organization during her interview for the job: “The NBA has to be ready for a female head coach. You can’t just interview somebody and say, ‘We’re going to hire her.’”
When she asked how her becoming the league’s first female head coach would affect the Knicks’ daily operations, it made the higher-ups “think.” She felt the “energy change after that” and admitted, “I shot myself in the foot.”
The Knicks ultimately chose Mike Brown.
