Diddy Reportedly Caught Drinking Homemade Alcohol in Prison Weeks After Declaring Sobriety
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ pledge to remain sober appears to have hit a snag while serving time in federal prison. According to TMZ, the music mogul was caught with homemade alcohol inside Fort Dix, the low-security New Jersey facility where he is currently incarcerated.
Sources told the outlet that Diddy had been drinking a fermented mixture of Fanta, sugar, and apples — a concoction commonly made by inmates and left to ferment for about two weeks. Prison officials reportedly discovered the alcohol and initially planned to move Diddy to another unit, though that decision was later reversed.
Just last month, Diddy spoke to the judge about his sobriety during sentencing, stating that he was sober for the first time in 25 years and acknowledging how substance use had affected his life. In a letter to the court, he wrote, “The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you — I choose to live.”
Recent photos published showed Diddy in the Fort Dix prison yard appearing upbeat and social with other inmates. The 54-year-old was convicted in July on two counts of violating the Mann Act and sentenced to 50 months in prison this past October. He was transferred to Fort Dix last week.
When contacted by press, a prison official said they had “no information” about the reported alcohol incident.
