2029 NYC Mayoral Bid As He Continues To Criticize New Mayor Zohran Mamdani
Actor and podcaster #MichaelRapaport appears to be the latest celeb venturing into politics.
In a recent episode of his podcast, Rapaport announced he plans to run for New York City mayor in 2029, driven largely by his outspoken criticism of the city’s new mayor, #ZohranMamdani. “Let me tell you something, guys, girls, women, children of all ages. 2025 was crazy, and I don’t see it getting any fucking calmer or cooler in 2026, the way things started. That’s why I’m running for mayor,” the Hitch star said.
Rapaport has made no secret of his dislike for #Mamdani, frequently criticizing and trolling the politician online. Sharing his political ambitions with his Instagram followers, he captioned one post, “Born. Raised. NYC. Nothing’s free. No bullshit. No fake grins. I’ll own my mistakes, apologize when I screw up, and fight to make this city safe, affordable, and thriving. You got Zoron the Moron now…Mayor Rapaport is coming.”
In another post, he addressed critics who accused him of being obsessed with Mamdani, writing, “Damn right I am. If you care about NYC, the Jews of NYC, and the safety of this city, I suggest you get obsessed too. You call it obsession. I call it paying attention.”
