HOT 97 Names Comedian & Media Personality The Kid Mero As New Morning Show Host After “Ebro In The Morning” Cancellation
#HOT97 is moving forward with some major changes.
The famed radio station has named Bronx-born comedian and media personality #TheKidMero as the new host of its morning show, HOT 97 Mornings with Mero, which will debut Tuesday, January 13, airing weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET. Mero, a New York Times best-selling author and Writers Guild Award winner, brings his cultural perspective and humor to the station’s flagship timeslot, covering topics like music, sports, culture, and current events.
Station executives emphasized that Mero’s energy and authenticity are a strong fit for the city’s audience. “HOT 97 has always been the city’s pulse, and Mero embodies that energy,” said MediaCo EVP of Content & Growth Kudjo Sogadzi. Mero’s new morning show comes after the surprising cancellation of Ebro in the Morning, which had aired since 2012. The program ran for nearly 13 years before the radio station parted ways with co-hosts #EbroDarden, Peter Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez in December.
