EXCLUSIVE: E-40 Sued by Author Over ‘Captain Save a Hoe’
E-40 Sued by Author Over ‘Captain Save a Hoe’
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, the legal drama between E-40 (real name Earl Stevens) and an author continue. Here’s the latest: Earlier this year, the 50-year-old rapper sued author Erica Kane over her book “Captain Save a Hoe”, which the rapper claimed was an infringement on his copyrights and trademarks.
On January 5, Kane responded to his lawsuit by counter-suing E-40. She denies all allegations of copyright infringement and demands his lawsuit against her be thrown out. She’s suing him for intentional business interference, saying the cease and desist letters he fired off to Amazon and other outlets caused her book to be pulled for sale.
Kane also wants the court to order rule that her book is not infringing on his copyrights/marks and damages for his interference with her sales.
Here’s the backstory: E-40 sued Erika Kane and her publishers for a book titled “Captain Save a Hoe”. The title of the book is the same title of his hit 1993 song. The rapper says he owns the rights to “Captain Save a Hoe” and the author is profiting off his hit song and uses it word for word in her book.
