EXCLUSIVE: Marlo Hampton’s “F-Word” Controversy Preventing Her From Getting Real Housewives of Atlanta Peach
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, there may be a controversial reason as to why Marlo Hampton has yet to achieve full time status on Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA). RHOA premiered in 2008 on Bravo.
Developed as the third installment of rhe Real Housewives franchise, following The Real Housewives of Orange County and New York City, it has aired ten seasons and focuses on the personal and professional lives of several women residing in Atlanta, Georgia.
The stylish reality star has appeared on the hit series as a friend or guest of the show since season 4. However, despite her popularity, she’s been unable to secure a spot as an official cast member. Sources tell us that a comment that Marlo made a few seasons ago, may have halted any chance of her holding a peach. We’re told that when Marlo used the word f*gg*t on the show, it allegedly really damaged the potential of her landing a permanent spot.
The homophobic term was used by Marlo in 2012 when she had an argument with now ex RHOA cast member, Sheree Whitfield, during their South Africa trip. While the two argued over why Marlo was NOT invited by Sheree to a party, Marlo told her:
And any way, that’s why you don’t have a man, Go and hang with them f*gg*ts.
See the clip below.
The fight between Marlo and Sheree in South Africa is so
stupid but also one of my all time favourites. #RHOA

Sources tell us that behind-the-scenes, BRAVO executive Andy Cohen was allegedly livid about it. It’s important to note that Marlo did apologize on her web site writing:
“I would like to offer from the bottom of my heart the fullest and most heartfelt apology for my recent use of an anti-gay slur. When I used this word, I was not mindful of the demeaning connotation that this has in the gay community. My speech was irresponsible, thoughtless and said with the intention of conveying anger rather than as a statement on my feelings towards the gay community as a whole…I applaud and admire this community for their triumph over a sometimes harsh, mean spirited society that discriminates and even violently attacks those who are different. These are obstacles that I relate to and that I have been inspired by them to overcome. I celebrate this community and am saddened by any indication otherwise, that my actions may have caused…”
Marlo also apologized on the reunion of the season that she used the word. However, for now it doesn’t appear to be enough.
“Not only was Andy upset, but it was damaging with the LGBTQ viewers and execs at the network.”
Nonetheless, Marlo remains a fixture on the show and the controversy may not stop her in the future. She’s appearing this season on the show. And there was casting interest, outside of BRAVO.
theJasmineBRAND broke the story over in May that Marlo was in talks to join another ensemble reality show (produced by Kandi Burrus), but the plug was pulled allegedly over contract negotiations.
Should Marlo be a full-time housewife? Let us know in the comments.
