EXCLUSIVE: Tiffany Haddish May Face Punitive Damages In Lawsuit By Ex Husband, Ex’s Legal Team Slams Comedian’s Publisher & Ghostwriter
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, new details have surfaced concerning the lawsuit that Tiffany Haddish faces from her ex husband, William Stewart. According to court documents, the comedian’s ex won the first round of hearings against defendants Haddish, Simon & Schuster and Tucker Tibor Max. The court ruled against Tiffany and her co-defendants with respect to the idea that William had not done enough before filing suit to tell them to retract the defamation against him. The defendants filed a motion to declare. William’s legal team responded. There was a hearing last month and the court denied their requests with respect to William and ruled that William can pursue punitive damages against Tiffany and her co-defendants, entitling him to recover additional compensation that punishes the defendants for comments made about him in Tiffany’s book.
William’s legal team tells us exclusively,
I know that everyone is focused on defendant Haddish, but she didn’t do this alone. The publisher, Simon & Schuster has a questionable history – they, among other things, enabled Milos Yiannopoulos after he was banned from twitter for racist hate speech against comedian Leslie Jones. Simon & Schuster’s parent company is CBS who continues to settle law suits for a pattern of bad behavior by executives.
The continue,
Haddish’s ghost writer is Tucker Max and his entire writing career was built on disgusting attempts to exploit, belittle and objectify women without regard. This is not just about Haddish. The defendants have disregarded principle, decency, or accuracy when there is an opportunity to profit. William Stewart is just their latest victim. And they never expected him to have the courage to take on such powerful interests.
We broke the story last year, that William was prepping a lawsuit. William, along with his mother Elnora Daughtery, are suing the 38-year-old actress; Simon & Shuster, Inc. (the company responsible for publishing her book “The Last Black Unicorn”) and Tucker Tibor Max (the author who also wrote the book) in Travis County, Texas. They are suing for more than $1 million.
