Jussie Smollett Charged With Disorderly Conduct For Filing False Police Report
According to reports, Jussie Smollett has been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report about an attack he says happened last month in Chicago, outside of his apartment building. Earlier today, it was reported that the Empire star was a
“a suspect in a criminal investigation … for filing a false police report.”
Wednesday evening, a felony charge was announced by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.
The Chicago police department also tweeted an update, noting that they would work with Jussie’s team for arrest.
Initially, police investigated the case as a hate crime.
Jussie told the police and public that two men had attacked him, hurling racially motivated slurs, pouring a liquid substance on him and placing a rope around his neck.

Ola & Abel Osundairo
During the investigation, it was reported that police began looking into whether the 36-year-old actor paid two brothers (Ola and Abel Osundairo) he knew to stage the attack. The brothers appeared before a grand jury earlier Wednesday and testified that Smollett had given them money, according to their attorney Gloria Schmidt.
Jussie’s team has yet to release a statement about the latest developments.
