LaVar Ball Banned From ESPN Networks Following Remarks Made To ‘First Take’ Host Molly Qerim

In the aftermath of NBA Dad, LaVar Ball’s comments made during his recent appearance on ESPN’s ‘First Take’ interview, the network will no longer feature Ball on any of its platforms. As previously reported, on Monday, the outspoken NBA Dad sat next to ESPN personality Steph A. Smith, while he and ESPN host Molly Qerim had a very awkward moment that looked uncomfortable for the ESPN host. Smith threw the conversation to Qerim, who said she was “switching gears” with the next question, to which Ball responded,

“You can switch gears with me any day.”

Qerim looked very uncomfortable with Ball’s remark, but gathered herself to simple respond on live TV,

“Let’s stay focused here.”

According to reports, an ESPN spokesperson commented they have, “no plans moving forward,” following the network making the decision to ban Ball from all platforms.

A representative for Ball issued a statement to after his appearance and insisted that his comment was not intended to be sexual.

“LaVar was asked if he wanted to switch gears, in his mind switching gears was ‘changing the subject anytime’ and he said, ‘yes, you can switch gears with me anytime.’ At NO time was that intended or meant to be sexual in nature.”

The news follows reports that his son Lonzo Ball, was traded from the Lakers to the New Orleans Pelicans For NBA All-Star, Anthony Davis.

Soon after the trade was announced, Ball commented on his son being traded from the Lakers. He lashed out calling the Lakers trade of his son as the worst in decision in Lakers history,

“I guarantee, like I say again, it will be the worst move the Lakers ever did in their life and they will never win another championship. Guarantee it.”
