Lakers Vs. Clippers Game Postponed In Honor of Kobe Bryant
Just 24-hours after the devastating news of the death of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, the NBA announced the headlining Tuesday (Jan. 28th), Lakers-Clippers game will be postponed. In a statement released on Monday (Jan. 27th), the league says it plans to show the upmost respect for Kobe, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant and the seven other victims on Tuesday.
“The National Basketball Association game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the LA Clippers scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Staples Center has been postponed. The decision was made out of respect for the Lakers organization, which is deeply grieving the tragic loss of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people in a helicopter crash on Sunday.”
As the players, teams, and entire league takes a moment to mourn, the Lakers-Clippers game will be rescheduled at a later time.
In agreement with the league, the Lakers also released a statement on the postponement of Tuesday’s game. The team also thanks fans for their outpouring support throughout this tragic time.
“The Los Angeles Lakers would like to thank all of you for the tremendous outpouring of support and condolences. This is a very difficult time for all of us. We continue to support the Bryant family and will share more information as it is available.”
As previously reported, along with Kobe and his daughter, several news sources confirmed the identity of the remaining aboard. The helicopter’s pilot, Ara Zobayan; Gianna’s Mamba Academy teammates Alyssa Altobelli and Payton Chester; their parents, John and Keri Altobelli, and Sarah Chester; and assistant coach Christina Mauser.
