Lebron James’ SpringHill Entertainment Prepping Black Wall Street Docu

Lebron James’ SpringHill Entertainment Announces Black Wall Street Docu
Yesterday (6/1/20) marked the 99th anniversary of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre on Black Wall Street, which is recorded to be one of the worst racial attacks in American history. On that fateful day, white residents destroyed the wealthiest black community in the United States after a still-unclear elevator incident between a young Black man and a young white woman. More than 35 blocks were burned down, and nearly 300 people were killed while Martial Law was declared. The fires and deaths of the historic event eerily mirror the recent protests-turned-riots in response to Minneapolis man, George Floyd‘s, death at the hands of police.
Basketball superstar Lebron James and his SpringHill Entertainment co-founder, Maverick Carter, are hoping to shine a light African-Americans’ long history of inequality and injustice with a documentary about Black Wall Street. The film will be directed and executive produced by Salima Koroma of “Bad Rap.” She announced the partnership on Twitter:
“The Tulsa Race Massacre is not just a black story but American history. The fabric of this country is soaked in racism and today 99 years later, we’re still fighting for change. That’s why I’m partnering with SpringHill Entertainment to tell the story of Black Wall Street.”

SpringHill Entertainment’s official Twitter account echoed Salima’s enthusiasm over the freshly-pitched project:
“In April, @limacake pitched us her vision to direct a documentary about Black Wall Street and The Tulsa Riot of 1921 – one of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history. We knew we had to empower her to tell that story #BlackLivesMatter #Dreamland
@KingJames”

LeBron James and his longtime business partner publicly acknowledged Salima Koroma for pitching the project. Maverick Carter’s Instagram post stated:
“We are still here fighting for the same things. Thank you @limacake for partnering with us on telling this American story which remains to be an American problem Not just a black problem @springhillent”

LeBron James also tweeted about the upcoming project and Salima’s involvement.
