‘The Breakfast Club’ Clarifies Comments About Megan Thee Stallion’s Interviews W/ White Publications: This Was Never A Shot At Her
The Breakfast Club hosts are explaining previous comments they made about rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
As previously reported, the radio morning show previously called out Megan Thee Stallion’s team. They discussed her interview with GQ and how she shared new details about her incident with Tory Lanez where he allegedly shot her and allegedly wanted to pay her to keep quiet. The media personalities opened up about being disappointed that she freely speaks with white publications, but has restrictions when it comes to doing interviews with them.
DJ Envy said:
“You know what? I yeah I think it’s crazy because when she does white publications she’s able to talk and and talk about everything that she wants to talk about but when she goes to the black press and black publications there’s a list that the label sends out that you know don’t ask her about this don’t talk about this don’t talk about that. But we’re the ones that support her and hold her down and play her music and talk about all the good things that she does and go through all that stuff…it’s just weird when they do that.”
“Now we also don’t know sometimes if it’s the artist sending that list out or if it’s the label and representation saying that. A lot of times artists don’t even know they’re like what did they tell you i couldn’t talk about?”
After getting lots of criticism for their comments, the hosts are clearing the air.
Angela Yee said:
“We have always shown love to Meg The Stallion. I’ve personally interviewed Meg The Stallion several times, she’s always been amazing so I wanted to say that first and foremost before we clear some things up… Don’t put that on Meg because I don’t think she’s the person sending out–like Envy said it’s the label that sends it out.”
“This was never a shot at Megan Thee Stallion. She never said, ‘I’m not doing The Breakfast Club’ or any of those things.”
Charlamagne added:
“Salute to Megan. We’re sending her love, light, and energy. Like you said, Yee, I think people missed the part where we said we’re a hundred percent sure it’s the label. It’s the representatives.”
