Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Recall How Tyler Perry Helped Them After Royal Family Stripped Them Of Their Security

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry found an unlikely ally with film director and actor Tyler Perry after their controversial exit from their royal duties last year.

During a revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed that it was Tyler Perry who provided security for them after the royal family took away theirs once they left the U.K. for Canada before settling in Los Angeles. Prince Harry recalled all of this happened in the earlier days of COVID-19 and the nationwide shutdown.

“While we were in Canada, in someone else’s house, I then got told, short notice, that security was going to be removed. So suddenly it dawned on me: ‘Hang on, the borders could be closed, we’re going to have our security removed, who knows how long lockdown is going to be, the world knows where we are, it’s not safe, it’s not secure, we probably need to get out of here.”

Meghan Markle said they needed somewhere to live and Tyler Perry provided housing and security as they relocated to California.

“We didn’t have a plan and we needed a house and he offered security as well so it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we were going to do.”

They reportedly stayed in the mansion Tyler Perry provided for three months before moving to Santa Barbara, Calif.

Many took to Twitter to react to the idea of Tyler Perry lending security and a home to the couple.

News of the couple staying at Tyler Perry’s $18 million mansion made headlines in May 2020. When asked about the alleged residents while speaking with Gayle King, Tyler Perry pretended to lose connection.See it at the 9:24 mark.
