Dr. Dre Backed Out Of Verzuz After Teddy Riley v. Babyface Mishap, Swizz Beatz Revealed

Dr. Dre was on board to take part in the popular Verzuz challenge… until Teddy Riley suffered technical difficulties while going head to head with Babyface last year.

Teddy Riley and Babyface had to cancel their event in April 2020 after Teddy Riley’s sound and video became too distorted. The Verzuz was rescheduled and held a few days later.

While the rescheduled Verzuz was a hit, the failed one was enough to steer Dr. Dre away from participating. Swizz Beatz told The Breakfast Club,

“When Dr. Dre wasn’t feeling the sound from Teddy Riley and Babyface, that hurt our heart. Oh my God. He was supposed to come at the end and announce that he was gon’ do VERZUZ that night… He got on the phone, he was like ‘man, I can’t be a part of nothing that sound like that, my legacy is quality’. I was like ‘oh, we just lost Dre’… that one felt pretty crazy.”

Meanwhile, Usher trended on Twitter after the hosts debated on who would win if he battled Chris Brown.

Chris Brown has made it clear he doesn’t plan on doing a Verzuz.
