LaMelo Ball Claims School Is Not The Priority Of Athletes: What The F**k Is School? + Later Rephrases: School Not For Everybody
LaMelo Ball is sharing his thoughts about athletes and formal education.
During a recent interview, LaMelo Ball expressed his views on athletes’ relationship with going to school. Specifically, the Charlotte Hornets player spoke about how school is not the priority of sports players aiming to go professional.
For context, LaMelo Ball left his California high school during his junior year to play professional basketball in Lithuania. However, he ultimately attended a prep school in Ohio to finish up his senior year. After graduating, he played professional basketball in Australia before signing with the Charlotte Hornets in 2020.
During his interview, LaMelo Ball proclaimed:
“You wanna go to the league, so school’s not your priority. We not trippin’ off school. We not dumb. We know how to learn. We don’t need school. And school not even teachin’ you s**t–what the f**k is school?”
However, after the interview began circulating, LaMelo Ball sought to clarify his statements on his Instagram story. He claimed he meant school is not for everyone, and he pointed out that some people–like doctors–have to go to school. He also stated the path he chose is not meant for those who are:
“Not all the way invested in [their] PLAN A which in my case was the (league).”
