Eddie Murphy Lands First-Look Deal With Amazon, Will Star In 3 Movies & Create Original Projects
It looks like the success of Coming 2 America was only the beginning of Eddie Murphy’s relationship with Amazon.
The film was released on the streaming platform this past March and became Amazon’s first project to lead streaming rankings after 1.4 billion minutes we were watched in the first week.
Fortunately for fans, there’s more on the way.
Eddie Murphy has landed a three-picture and first-look deal with Amazon. He’ll star in three films and develop original projects under the agreement.
The Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, said,
“Eddie is a legend both in front of and behind the camera. With undeniable comedic and dramatic genius, he consistently delivers entertaining, original stories and characters to audiences around the world.”
Eddie Murphy is also set to star in two upcoming Netflix projects – Beverly Hills Cop 4 and a comedy directed by Kenya Barris, which will also star Jonah Hill.

Kenya Barris
The details of the latter Netflix comedy are still under wraps but the script was co-written by Kenya Barris and Jonah Hill. The production will follow modern love and families while examining the clash of cultures and generational differences, to which Murphy and Jonah Hill will be on opposing sides.
