Questlove Recalls Mistaking Former President Barack Obama For Postmates Driver: I Had a Belly Laugh
Questlove speaks on a funny moment he shared with Barack Obama.
While discussing meaningful encounter’s he’s experienced following the success of his latest film, Questlove detailed taking a call from Barack Obama, initially thinking he was a postmates driver.
The Sundance award winning film “Summer of Soul…OR, WHEN THE REVOLUTION COULD NOT BE TELEVISED” has only increased in popularity following its release. On the heels of collecting awards from the PGAs, BAFTAs and Spirit Awards, the projects director, Questlove, has been a hot commodity for interviews. In response to being asked about his most meaningful encounters subsequent the films success, Questlove detailed a memorable moment after his big Sundance win.

The famous disc jockey says his phone was ringing off the hook, but his only focus was on the food that hadn’t been delivered by Postmates. Certainly, the musical artist was not expecting a phone call from former president Barack Obama, despite members of his team attempting to notify him. He detailed the event stating:
“The phone rings and I’m wondering where my Postmates guy is with my food. So [the caller] is like, ‘Hello?’ And I was like, ‘Yo, come [to this] floor, I’ve been waiting for you.’ He’s like, ‘Huh? Wait.’ I said, ‘Postmates?’ ‘This is Barry. Wait, do you think I’m your Postmates?’ And I was like, ‘Huh?’

He continued:
“I looked on my phone and there’s all these [texts saying], ‘The president’s going to call.’ I totally missed that. I had a belly laugh.”

Questlove goes on to reveal that more recently, he ran into the cast of HBO’s hit series Euphoria while dining at one of his favorite sushi spots. The musician opened up about the experience and his fandom for the show stating:
“Last night, I went to one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall sushi spots, and, one by one, each member of the cast of Euphoria walked in….I was like, ‘Yo!’ I was doing my best to not freak out. After a while, [Dominic Fike] turned around. He’s a musician I really respect, so I kind of eased my way over to the cool kid’s table for half a second.”
