Anthony Anderson Graduates From Howard University At 51: It’s Never Too Late
51-year-old actor Anthony Anderson has officially earned his degree from Howard University!
Anthony Anderson was granted his diploma from Howard University in Washington D.C. on Saturday (May 7). The following day (May 8) the “Black-ish” actor took to Instagram to share the exciting milestone with his 1.8 million IG followers. The entertainer initially had to leave the prestigious HBCU during his junior year of college because he reportedly didn’t have the funds needed to pay his tuition.
However, Anthony Anderson recently revealed that he’s finally obtained his bachelor of fine arts degree from Howard’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts! In his heartfelt IG post about the graduation ceremony, Anderson said,
“To quote Biggie, ‘IT WAS ALL A DREAM!’ Words can’t begin to describe the emotional roller coaster I’m on right now. It’s literally been 30 years in the making.”
“This spring I was finally able to complete the work to graduate from Howard University with a BFA degree from the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts! Yesterday was a full circle moment. It’s never too late!”
He added,
“Things happen when they’re supposed to happen!”
Anderson also shared photos of himself alongside his fellow classmates, the president of the university, and others from his special day.

During his big moment, Anderson was able to capture photos with fellow actor, Howard graduate and commencement speaker Taraji P. Henson and Phylicia Rashad, the Dean of Howard University’s College of Fine Arts.

Anderson finished his post by thanking his son, Nathan, whose own acceptance into college sparked his inspiration to finish pursuing his degree. He also gave recognition to university staff that helped him along his journey, which he called “30 years in the making.” He concluded,
“I’d like to thank Dr. Wayne Fredrick, Dean Phylicia Rashad, Dean Denise Saunders Thomas and Courtney Bless Long for
helping to make this happen for me! It takes a village. Thank you to my son @hotboynato for inspiring me to return to school to finish my degree after he was accepted into Howard University. This is just the beginning! HU!… #justakidfromcompton #huskyandhandsome #bigzaddy
