Coach Deion Sanders Scrambling To Secure Housing & Practice Facility For JSU Football Team After City Of Jackson Loses Water: We Don’t Have Water & Can’t Use Toilets, Which Burdens The Program

Jackstate State Coach Deion Sanders is working to help his players amid a water crisis in the city.

The ex NFL player posted a video recently, revealing the struggles his team has been facing since the entire city of Jackson lost access to clean water. According to reports, Mississippi’s Governor Tate Reeves stated that severe damage to the city’s major water pump is the source of JSU’s current predicament. However flooding from the nearby Pearl River appears to be the catalyst.

Speaking about the problems his players are currently grappling with, Sanders stated:

“We don’t have water. Water means we don’t have air conditioning. Can’t use toilets. We don’t have water, therefore we don’t have ice, which pretty much places a burden on the program.”

Continuing, the athlete who has been coaching the Tigers since September 2020, revealed he’s in the process of securing hotel arrangements for the team. He stated:

“I gotta get these kids off campus — the ones that live on campus, the ones that live in the city of Jackson — into a hotel and accommodate them so that they can shower properly and take care of their needs,”

Then continued:

“Make sure all of our kids are fed, all of our kids have the necessities of life for the next several days, until this crisis resides.”

Reportedly, Sanders is also working to obtain somewhere for the Tigers to practice ahead of their game against Florida A&M this coming Sunday in Miami Gardens.

The report also stated that Governor Reeves declared a state of emergency, announcing that Mississippi Emergency Management Agency will help distribute drinking and non-drinking water to residents along with the National Guard.

“Please stay safe. Do not drink the water. In too many cases, it is raw water from the reservoir being pushed through the pipes.”
