Vince Staples To Star In Scripted Fictional Netflix Comedy Series Based On His Life
Vince Staples is taking his talents to Netflix.

According to reports, streaming network Netflix is promoting a new series titled The Vince Staples Show based on rapper and singer Vince Staples’ life. Vince Staples will appear as himself and the show will be set in Long Beach, California where he was raised. Kenya Barris will be the executive producer alongside Staples, Ian Edelman, Maurice Williams, Corey Smyth and Calmatic. Edelman and Williams are listed as co-showrunners on the upcoming series. Recently, Staples shared his thoughts on the upcoming project. The 29-year-old said:
“I am excited to partner with Netflix and Kenya Barris on ‘The Vince Staples Show.’”
He added:
“This has been something I have been developing for some time and I am happy it’s coming to fruition.”
Staples isn’t new to being onscreen in a scripted project. In the past he appeared in brief roles such as “Dope,” as well as playing himself in an episode of “Insecure.” In the Adult Swim animated series “Lazor Wulf” Staples provided the voice of the title character.

Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s head of comedy, shared her thoughts on the upcoming series. She said:
“It’s our mission to work with the best artists in the world.”
She continued:
“Vince has already established himself as one of the most talented young musicians today and we’re really excited about how his sensibility – and sense of humor – will translate into a unique comedy series.”
