Serena Williams Is NOT Retired From Tennis, Says Chances For A Return Are ‘Very High’
If you thought it was over for the tennis G.O.A.T., think again!
During a recent conference, 23-time Grand Slam-winning tennis champ Serena Williams made it clear she hasn’t hung up her racket permanently just yet. The 41-year-old athlete clarified her previous comments about stepping away from the game and hinted that a return may come sooner rather than later.

According to reports, the clarifying comments were made during the TechCrunch Disrupt conference held this past weekend. Williams was promoting her newest business, Serena Ventures, which has reportedly raised $111 million in the past year. During the interview, the mother of one stated outright that she is not retired, adding:
“The chances [of me returning] are very high….You can come to my house and [see]. I have a court.”
This was such a surreal moment for the Williams sisters ??

Following her third-round loss in the 2022 US Open, Williams bid an emotional farewell to the sport she’s dominated since 1995. Prior to the championship match, the famed athlete publicized her plans to “step away” from the game, leaving many to assume she was speaking about beginning her retirement. Serena stated that she had other interests she planned to pursue, as well as focus more on her 5-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia.
However, it seems the tennis star had no plans to walk away from the game for good. During the Vogue interview where Williams first spoke on her post-Grand Slam plans, she stated:
“I have never liked the word retirement….It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me. I’ve been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution.“
