NeNe Leakes Says She & Former BFF Cynthia Bailey Are ‘Cordial’ + Reveals Kim Zolciak-Biermann & Several ‘RHOA’ Cast Members Reached Out After Her Son Fell Ill

After a huge falling out some friendships may never be the same.

That seems to be true enough for reality TV star NeNe Leakes, who recently said as much while speaking on her friendship status with once bff Cynthia Bailey. The former Real Housewives Of Atlanta co-stars have been on thin ice with one another since their beef began back in 2019.

During a recent interview, Leakes opened up about where she and Bailey stand as of today. After interviewer Larry Reid asked if the two are still friends, she responded:

“Friends is a stretch….I don’t know that we will ever be in that place again…I take the word friend vey seriously so I will not be using that word,”

She continued:

“That doesn’t mean that we have any beef, we are cordial. She did text me when my son was sick recently and I text her when I heard about her and Mike.” 

Though Leakes and Bailey have an extensive friendship history, things got complicated after behind-the-scenes RHOA footage revealed Bailey lied to Leakes. Allegedly, Bailey planned to invite someone to an event, knowing Leakes would be upset about it, and then denied it was true. However, the entire interaction was caught on camera.

Bailey followed up by calling her sisterhood with Leakes toxic, which seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. The pair engaged in several heated exchanges on TV and social media following the incident, ultimately leading to the end of their friendship.

However, the reality stars put their anger aside a year later and sat down for a discussion. Bailey insisted that though things may never be the same, she couldn’t continue on knowing Leakes hated her. Both women explained themselves and decided to move forward from their frustrations. Still, according to Leakes, the friendship is not and may never be as close as it once was. Though she did say in the interview that she invited Bailey out for drinks after hearing of her recent divorce.

During the interview, Leakes also revealed a few other of her show frenemies reached out following her son’s stroke. The mother of two shared that Kim Zolciak–Biermann, Shereé Whitfield, Porsha Williams, and Drew Sidora all offered their support during the difficult time. She stated:

“Kim Zolciak text me, Shereé text me….Porsha, Drew when my son got sick” 

Zolciak and Leakes were seemingly close friends during the first season of RHOA, but that relationship went sour by the season’s end. In her recently dropped lawsuit against Bravo, Leakes accused Zolciak of making several racially insensitive comments towards her and others on the show. The “Tardy For The Party” singer responded, stating she’ll “deal” with Leakes after she was done feuding with Bravo. Zolciak vehemently denied being racist or intentionally making any racially offensive comments.
