LSU Issues Apology After Basketball Star Flau’jae Johnson Makes 9/11 Reference In New Rap Song
It looks like LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson is receiving major backlash for her latest rap verse.
LSU has issued an apology on behalf of Flau’jae Johnson after the hoop star/rapper referenced the 9/11 terrorist attacks in her new rap song. The 19-year-old, 5’10” guard remixed Latto’s “Put It on Da Floor” and said,
“In this 911, blowing smoke just like them towers.”
The controversial line is a double-entendre referencing both the iconic Porsche 911 and the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.
Flau’jae Johnson uploaded a music video showcasing her new song, however, the video was quickly taken down amid the controversy.

Take a bow @LSUwbkb. A player on your team mocked those who died on 9/11 by comparing it to a Porsche.

The university caught wind of the lyrics and quickly addressed the matter by issuing an apology. LSU told FOX News in a statement:
“We spoke with Flau’jae this evening, and while she never intended to offend or upset anyone with her lyrics, she expressed sincere remorse for any possibility of a misunderstanding and immediately took the video down. We will learn and grow from this experience together.”
Johnson has yet to release a statement herself.
While the hoop star has achieved major success recently winning the national championship, she also has a budding rap career. The SEC Freshman of the Year already has a deal with Roc Nation and has landed collabs with big names such as Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled.
During a recent interview, Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter) shared,
“We spoke and we’re about to connect musically soon, so be looking out for that.”

The rapper also gave props to the head coach of LSU’s women’s basketball team, Kim Mulkey.
“And shoutout to Ms. Kim too. Ms. Kim told me, she was like, ‘you must do something with my girl Flau’jae.’ I was like ‘say less.’”

Flau’jae Johnson and her team made headlines last month after their 102-85 win over The University of Iowa, a match-up that made history as the most-viewed NCAA women’s basketball game, amassing up to 9.9 million viewers.
