Tiffany Haddish Reveals Common Broke Up w/ Her Suddenly Over The Phone, Says The Split ‘Wasn’t Mutual’
Tiffany Haddish Reveals Common Broke Up w/ Her Suddenly Over The Phone, Says The Split ‘Wasn’t Mutual’
There are always three sides to every story.
For comedic actress Tiffany Haddish, her version of how the breakup went down with ex-boyfriend Common is much different than what he previously claimed.
Tiffany Haddish discussed the year-long romance during a recent cover interview. Reportedly, the 43-year-old said that although Common, 51, stated in a post-break-up interview that the call to split was “mutual,” that was not at all how she remembers it happening.
In actuality, the “Girl’s Trip” star suggested it was a one-sided decision that the rapper made via telephone. She stated:
“It wasn’t mutual…It was more him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course.'”

Adding:
“And I was like, ‘Okay. Like you gonna be a 50-year-old single man. Okay?'”
As we covered back in 2021 shortly after their split, Haddish expressed her disappointment in the way Common, real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn, handled things after calling it quits. The musician stated at the time that due to the busyness of their lives, they both “mutually” decided to remain friends but end their romantic partnership. He explained:
“I don’t think the love really dispersed. I just think it was like we weren’t feeding the relationship…We both care about our crafts and what we do…but I think the energy that has been put into our careers and continuing to want to do the things that we do for ourselves and for the people, it was hard for me to balance all of that and keep the relationship fed.”

And continued:
“[We decided] this is what’s gonna be best for us, to still continue to love each other and be there for each other but to not be in a romantic relationship,”
However, it’s clear that Haddish felt blindsided by the abruptness of how they left off. Despite having different interpretations of how things ended, Haddish did seem to agree about the nature of the romance while they both were in it. Elsewhere in the interview, the entertainer gushed about her ex, hailing the relationship as the “safest” one she’s ever been in. Especially considering the “trauma” she’s previously experienced while dating men. She reportedly stated of her time dating Common:
“[it was] the healthiest, the funnest relationship I’ve ever had”

Since their split, Common has reportedly moved on with superstar singer Jennifer Hudson, 41. Back in January, rumors of their budding affair began circulating after the two reportedly portrayed love interests in a coming movie. Speculations were fueled even further earlier this month when it was reported they went on vacation to London together. Neither entertainers have spoken publicly about their alleged romance at this time.

As far as Haddish’s dating life goes, it seems she’s taking some time off the market to focus on herself. Back in June, the actress shared,
“I’m dating me.”
Though she did admit there are a few individuals she “likes hanging out with.” It seems their identities, however, will remain undisclosed at this time.
