Nipsey Hussle’s Ex Granted More Visitation w/ Their 14-Year-Old Daughter As His Family Continues To Fight For Guardianship Agreement To Stay In Place

Nipsey Hussle’s ex scored a win in court amid her ongoing custody battle with the late rapper’s family.

According to RadarOnline, a recent hearing was held surrounding the guardianship agreement between the family of Nipsey Hussle and the mother of his teenage daughter, Tanisha Foster. In case you didn’t know, Nipsey Hussle’s brother & sister gained primary custody of his 14-year-old daughter Emani Asghedom in 2019 after he was fatally shot. It’s reported that Tanisha Foster agreed to the guardianship arrangement at the time due to her “financial limitations.”

Her lawyer wrote,

“Tanisha’s motivation for doing so was in recognition of her own financial limitations; her desire to maintain the standard of living and family contact the minor had experienced with the paternal family prior to her father’s death; and upon the verbal assurances that each of them would act in the best interests of Emani.”

In 2022, Tanisha Foster filed legal documents to have the custody agreement reversed and accused Nipsey’s family of,

“using their financial position and influence to disregard their priorities by controlling the desires of Emani and Tanisha by withholding financial assistance and reducing visitation.”

In her filing, Tanisha said,

“I have continued to be an active part of Emani’s life. She spends the night with me often, I take her to school, and I continue to do the things a parent would do with their child. I am very unhappy that the guardians will not take my calls. They have blocked me on their cell phones. I have to go through a third party or Emani to communicate with the guardians.”

She continued,

“There are no circumstances or events in my life that would disqualify me from regaining my exclusive role as Emani’s parent. There is no longer any need for guardianship. Emani routinely asks me when are she and I going to be able to live together. She longs to be with me as her mother. I am begging the court to terminate the existing guardianship.”

However, the California native’s family reportedly claimed that Tanisha was an unfit parent and demanded the current guardianship stay in place. In addition, they said Tanisha has a history of alcohol abuse and noted an incident where she allegedly hit a third party in front of the teen.

The entertainer’s family argued they should have custody of Emani Asghedom and be in control of her inheritance. According to reports, the teen and Nipsey’s son Kross Asghedom, who he had with Lauren London, are the only beneficiaries of Nipsey’s estate. Both children are expected to receive millions.

At the recent hearing, a judge made a ruling that allows a visitation schedule to be temporarily set in place until a final decision is made in the case. The court order reportedly stated that Tanisha would have extra visitation time with Emani, she could pick her up from school two days per week, and spend a little over two hours with her daughter. The order also forbade all parties from making negative comments about the “other, either directly or indirectly, to Emani.” In addition,

“Each party must also not permit anyone else to make such remarks in the child’s presence.”

A decision on the guardianship will be determined after a hearing in October.

Tanisha recently received an additional win in court after it was determined she didn’t have to turn over a recording of a conversation between lawyer William Spiller and Emani. As previously reported, William Spiller – the lawyer who was appointed in 2019 to represent Emani after Nipsey’s tragic death – said that Tanisha has an “unlawful” recording of him talking to her daughter. According to William, Tanisha submitted the tape to the judge during a November hearing. The attorney added that he requested for her to turn over the tape and the device it was recorded on to him, but she refused.

Despite William’s issues with the recording, the judge ruled that Tanisha hadn’t done anything unlawful and she wouldn’t have to release the audio to him. Legal documents also noted that Emani recorded the audio herself during a meeting she had with William. Reportedly, Tanisha informed the court her child did so in order to show how her court-appointed lawyer was “twisting her words.”
