Update: Young Thug’s RICO Case Set To Resume As Co-Defendant Has Recovered From ‘Serious’ Jail Stabbing Incident
Update: (Jan. 2, 2024): Young Thug’s RICO trial is set to resume.
As you may recall, on December 10 Shannon Stillwell – a co-defendant in Young Thug’s racketeering trial – was stabbed multiple times while behind bars at the Fulton County jail. Following the incident, which Stillwell’s attorney Max Schardt said was “serious,” Judge Ural Glanville ultimately decided to pause court proceedings for the remainder of 2023 to give Stillwell time to recover.
According to Schardt, Stillwell is now out of the hospital and ready for the trial to resume. Testimony is expected to pick back up today (Jan. 2). Reports claim that prosecutors will call multiple witnesses once things officially restart.

Original Story: (Dec. 11, 2023): Rapper Young Thug’s RICO trial will probably go down in history as one of the most interesting hip-hop-related cases.
According to reports, Shannon Stillwell – a co-defendant in Young Thug’s racketeering trial – was stabbed last night (Dec. 10) at the Fulton County jail. This morning (Dec. 11) Judge Ural Glanville announced that due to the “medical issue,” court proceedings will recess for the rest of the day. At this time, key details about the stabbing have yet to be released. However, Stillwell’s attorney, Max Schardt, did share,
“He is with us — he is alive,”
He continued,
“But I fear that it was serious.”

Stillwell, 31, is reportedly facing eight charges, including conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, two counts of murder, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Stillwell is one of the 6 defendants – including Young Thug – who weren’t lucky enough to receive a plea deal (or be severed from the case) before the high-profile RICO trial started. As you may already know, on May 9, 2022, rappers Young Thug, Gunna, and 26 others were arrested in Atlanta on gang-related charges. Gunna ultimately took an Alford plea and was released in December of that year.

Young Thug, however, is currently on trial for his alleged crimes and has been accused of being the leader of the reported violent criminal street gang YSL (Young Slime Life). The “Oh U Went” artist has maintained his innocence, claiming YSL (Young Stoner Life Records) is only his record label and nothing more.
