Reportedly, Richard Sherman was detained by police in Washington on Saturday (February 24th). The athlete was reportedly going 79mph in a 60mph zone around 2:00 a.m. in Bellevue when he was spotted by authorities. Upon pulling him over, officers questioned the famed cornerback about whether he’d been drinking, to which Sherman reportedly told them he had two margaritas.

Reports state the football champ voluntarily agreed to take a test, though it had not been specified what kind of test was administered. It’s assumed he was given a breathalyzer, though this has not been confirmed. Police concluded in their report that there was an “odor of intoxicants” and claimed that the athlete had bloodshot watery eyes. He was arrested on the scene and remains in custody until his court date on Monday (February 26th) where a judge will explain the conditions of his bail and release.
Sherman’s detainment comes nearly three years after he was arrested for reckless driving and criminal trespassing back in 2021. If you recall, the sports personality allegedly flew into a drunken rage one evening and crashed his vehicle into a construction site. Subsequently, he attempted to enter the home of his panicked in-laws where he was ultimately arrested by police.

He reportedly plead guilty to first-degree negligent driving, second-degree criminal trespass, and speeding in a construction zone in March the following year and was sentenced to a 90-day license suspension and two years of supervised probation. Reportedly, the probation period had not yet ended, which could pose other legal implications for him. It has not been reported that Sherman’s team or his loved have commented on his recent arrest at this time.
