Crystal Renay Reveals How She Caught Ex-Husband Ne-Yo Cheating: ‘I Found Everything That Day & Left’

Crystal Renay is reflecting on the day she found out her now ex-husband Ne-Yo was cheating on her.

A year has passed since their divorce was finalized, and while on The Breakfast Club Thursday (April 11), Crystal Renay said,

“I’m still in peace. I’m in a good place in my life right now.”

As for what inspired her to call it quits for good, she ironically said it was Ne-Yo‘s previous appearance on The Breakfast Club. At the time, he was asked if he would want to know if his partner was cheating on him, and he said that he’d prefer to “live in a blissful bubble of ignorance.” Crystal Renay recalled,

“Somebody sent me that, and something in my stomach was like uh-uh. Something ain’t right. Is that how he wants me to think?”

She revealed,

“I found everything that I found that day and I left.”

She added that she went through his phone and discovered evidence that he cheated, explaining why his remarks were a red flag.

“With me, he has a little jealousy in him or whatever. I know that he would never be okay with me doing that.”

Crystal added that Ne-Yo “had no choice” but to confess.

She now says she believes God was “redirecting” her.

“He knew that that wasn’t what I wanted in a marriage, and He just removed me from that situation. He did it in a way that I had no choice to leave because my values and my morals would never be involved in something like that.”

She noted that the incident marked the first time she caught the “So Sick” singer cheating. However, in 2020, she suspected he was being unfaithful and briefly left him.

In 2020, theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported that Crystal was preparing to file for divorce from the three-time Grammy winner.

One source told us at the time,

“Crystal left him. She’s had enough. She’s filing very, very soon.”

Ne-Yo later confirmed he and Crystal were divorcing in an interview, stating in part, ”

“Long story short, she’s got demons just like everyone else, just like me and we realize our demons don’t mesh  — and until the both of get ahold of our personal demons, it’s gonna be just difficult for us to stay married. That’s the end of that chapter, not the end of that book.”

The two rekindled their romance nearly a year later, with Ne-Yo re-proposing to the reality star.

In July 2022, Crystal Renay revealed on Instagram that she had discovered Ne-Yo was cheating on her during their eight-year relationship.

Their divorce was finalized in February 2023, and Ne-Yo has reportedly welcomed two children with a woman he was allegedly having an affair with during his marriage to Crystal.

Speaking to The Breakfast Club about her and Ne-Yo’s former bond on Thursday (Apri 11), she said,

“That was my dawg.”

Still, she added of her decision to leave:

“I know my worth and I’m not gonna settle for just sharing somebody, when I know I deserve a whole man.”

Crystal noted that they met after she landed a lead role for the video/short film of his Non-Fiction project.

“The movie never got shot so, I don’t know…”

The now-exes married in 2016. They share three children: Shaffer Chimere Smith, Jr., was born in 2016 and Their second son, Roman Alexander-Raj Smith was born in 2018. They welcomed daughter Isabella Rose in 2021.
