NBA Star Jaylen Brown Praises Bronny James After Being Caught On Camera Allegedly Saying Rookie Isn’t A Pro

Internet lip readers have caused quite a controversy for NBA player Jaylen Brown.

Sports fans are speculating whether he criticized Bronny James’ league potential, alongside WNBA players Angel Reese and Kysre Gondrezick.

The drama all started over video footage of Celtics star Jaylen Brown sitting courtside with his (speculated) girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, and Chicago Sky player Angel Reese during the Celtics vs. Lakers Summer League game in Las Vegas.

The Summer League is an off-season basketball competition where NBA teams experiment with different rosters, distinct from their regular season lineups.

When the camera cut to the trio, Jaylen Brown could be seen mouthing to the two ladies, with many speculating he said,

“I don’t think Bronny is a pro.”

Angel Reese is seen nodding her head, making a quick remark, and then looking down at her phone, while Kysre Gondrezick is believed to have replied,

“I think he’ll be on the G-League team for sure.”

Since there’s no audio, it’s hard to confirm what the three actually said, but following the growing reactions over what’s believed was stated, Jaylen Brown addressed the situation on X. He wrote,

“It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the NBA; it reflects greatness and longevity! Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful. I look forward to watching his growth.”

Despite the statement, many sports fans are convinced Jaylen doesn’t think highly of Bronny James’ new NBA career.

One X user commented,

“N***** get around the bad b****** and start slick-hating.”

Another X user wrote,

“Saying this to your girl who has been cut from the league 12 times is pretty funny.”

Bronny James, a highly-rated recruit, was named a McDonald’s All-American during his senior year of high school in 2023. He played one season of college basketball for the USC Trojans before being selected 55th overall by the Lakers in the 2024 NBA draft.

As the son of basketball legend LeBron James, there’s been speculation that nepotism may have played a role in his NBA draft selection.
