NFL Star DK Metcalf Suspended 2 Games Without Pay After Swinging At Lions Fan In Stands During Game

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver?#DKMetcalf has been suspended for two games without pay by the NFL after a physical confrontation with a fan during Sunday’s game at Ford Field in Detroit.

The league said Metcalf’s actions violated its policy that prohibits players from entering the stands or engaging fans during games and added that unnecessary physical contact with a spectator is considered “conduct detrimental to the #NFL.” Metcalf plans to appeal the punishment, and if upheld, he will forfeit $555,556 in salary for the two games and could see up to $45 million in future guaranteed contract money voided under terms reviewed by CBS Sports and ESPN.

The fan involved, later identified as Ryan Kennedy, denied using racial slurs or hate based language during the incident in a statement released by a Michigan law firm. “These allegations are completely false,” the statement said. Kennedy added that Metcalf threw a punch after he taunted the athlete using his full name, DeKaylin Zecharius. With #Metcalf sidelined, the Steelers will be without their leading receiver for their final two regular?season games.
