Trump Issues Threats Against Cuba, Colombia, & Mexico Following Venezuela Strike
#DonaldTrump had a few things to get off his chest.
Following the U.S. military operation that led to the capture of #Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Trump issued sharp warnings to Cuba, Mexico, and Colombia, signaling increased pressure across the Western Hemisphere. Maduro was transferred over the weekend to the Metropolitan Detention Center on narco-terrorism charges, and the president has since expanded his rhetoric about perceived threats from neighboring countries.
#Trump made it clear that the U.S. could take further action if these nations do not address the issues he highlighted, saying, “#Colombia is very sick, too. Run by a sick man who likes making cocaine and selling it to the United States, and he’s not going to be doing it very long.” He also criticized Mexico’s drug cartels, adding that “something has to be done”, and took aim at Cuba’s economy following the loss of Venezuelan oil support.
