Dame Dash Claims Jay-Z Cut Him Off To Build His Mogul Image: ‘I Can’t Be Known As A Businessman w/ You Next To Me’

Dame Dash is reopening old Roc-A-Fella wounds, claiming Jay-Z once made it crystal clear that building his businessman image meant leaving Dame behind.

During a recent episode of “Quiet Part Out Loud,” Dash recalled what he says was one of his final meetings with his former business partner. According to Dame, L.A. Reid wanted him involved in a business conversation because, “He wanted a businessman to be there.”

Dame claims Jay ultimately wanted him out of the picture.

“And yeah, he was like, ‘I want to be known as a businessman.’ Like, flat-out said, ‘I want to be known as a businessman and I can’t be known as a businessman with you next to me,’” Dame alleged Jay told him. “And I was like, ‘I don’t even want to be next to you, n***a. You’re not a businessman.’”

Dash didn’t stop there. He argued that Jay operates more as a “figurehead,” while executives such as Steve Stoute handle major moves behind the scenes.

“If you notice in his interviews, he’s a box of rocks,” Dame said.

He also revisited their long-running dispute surrounding “Reasonable Doubt” and his finances.

“Jay ain’t sh*t. We all know that. And I’ll say it. And y’all could tell me [I’m a] chatty patty when he f*cks up $40 million of my own money,” Dame said.

Dash also claimed Jay refused to walk “The Woodsman” red carpet with him and said his former partner “had such a conglomerate of people that would conspire” against him.

“He’s over there with them, I think, because he needs the crew. … He can’t do nothing on his own,” Dame continued.

The pair’s fractured relationship has remained public for years, with Jay recently taking his own shot at Dame during a Roots Picnic freestyle in May.
