Britney Spears’ Manager Says She May Not Perform “Ever Again”

The struggles for troubled pop star Britney Spears may be even more serious than initially suspected, as her manager just gave a sad update on the status of her career.

2019 has proved to be an extremely challenging one for Britney Spears. The pop star is constantly the center of intense scrutiny and speculation about her mental health, in-fighting with her family, her conservatorship and now her ability to continue to perform.

According to reports, Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph just crushed many fans of the performer when he provided the most recent update about her future career. In a new interview, Rudolph stated matter-of-factly, that Spears may never perform on stage “ever again.”

Rudolph had this to say about Spears returning to the stage, specifically her Las Vegas residency:

“As the person who guides her career — based on the information I and all of the professionals who work with her are being told on a need-to-know basis — from what I have gathered it’s clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency, not in the near future and possibly never again.”

Rudolph also noted that Spears’ recent decline is directly attributed to her father’s ailing health. Jamie Spears fell ill last year, and Spears has reportedly been going downhill ever since. Additionally, her father has also acted as her conservator for the past 12 years, following her highly-publicized breakdown in 2007.

On how her father’s health impacted her career, Rudolph said:

“It was the perfect storm. We had to pull her show because her meds stopped working and she was distraught over her dad’s illness.” The residency, which was supposed to launch on February 13.”

While Rudolph notes that it’s ultimately Spears’ decision whether she returns to performing, he doesn’t want her working again until she is completely able to do so:

“Last summer, when she wanted to tour, she called me every day,” he said. “She was excited. She hasn’t called me in months. Crickets. She clearly doesn’t want to perform now. I don’t want her to work again ’till she’s ready, physically, mentally and passionately. If that time never comes again it will never come again. I have no desire or ability to make her work again. I am only here for her when she wants to work. And, if she ever does want to work again, I’m here to tell her if it’s a good idea or a bad idea.”

This latest report is just another in a long line of alarming headlines surrounding Spears. She abruptly checked into a mental health facility earlier this year after reportedly refusing to take her medication, resulting in a decline in her mental health. Following those reports, online rumors spread that she was being held at the mental facility against her will, and just a few weeks ago she filed a restraining order against her former manager Sam Lufti.

After seeing the online response to rumors that she was being held captive, Spears released a video assuring her fans that she was fine, saying:

“Hi guys, just checking in with all of you who have been concerned about me. All is well. My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. But don’t worry, I will be back very soon.”
