(EXCLUSIVE) Dionne Warwick Pleads w/ Judge to Order IRS to Stop Trying to Seize Her Cash

Then, Dionne filed a lawsuit against the IRS claiming $6 million of the debt she owed them was supposed to be wiped clean. She explained since the debt owed was so old, per the law it was to be discharged in her bankruptcy. The IRS fired back claiming the taxes weren’t eligible for discharge due to her having tried to evade payment to them over the years.

Then on June 11th, Warwick filed docs in the case demanding the IRS be sanctioned for attempting to seize her assets.

The singer explains on June 5th, the IRS sent her a notice of levy to seize her assets for the unpaid taxes for 2011 and 2012 totaling over $71,408. However, she says that the despite the Feds attempting to get the judge to allow them to seize her assets during the bankruptcy, they were shut down previously and now they are trying to continue on in disregard of the courts order.

Warwick explains that during a bankruptcy no assets can be seized unless the judge grants an exemption for an entity. She says that during a hearing in the case the judge even said in open court that the IRS cannot touch any money she makes from concerts performed after she filed for bankruptcy.

She is demanding the court sanction the IRS for their actions of trying to take her money and order them to stop attempting to seize her cash during the bankruptcy case.
